My name is Ellen and I’m an expatriate American who lives, works, and renovates in Oslo, Norway.
This blog documents three separate renovation projects. The first, a full-on remodel of a suburban apartment from 1957, took place the winter of 2016-17. I subsequently sold that apartment and moved into a 1936 apartment in town in November 2018. I have done (and may continue to do) a few small renovations there. Then in the winter of 2020 I did something completely crazy and bought a run-down nineteenth-century smallholding (husmannsplass) in rural Norway. It will require extensive renovation, so stay tuned. There’s plenty of work to be done!
