Good enough

So I tried the colorwash thing this morning; as a technique it was a total failure, but I actually really like the end result, so I’m sticking with it:

While the new, lighter blue isn’t an exact match by any stretch of the imagination, it looks a lot better than the darker blue from before. I followed the instructions on the YouTube video, adding in a bunch of the grayish-white main color and enough water to give the paint the consistency of milk. I painted per the instructions, but after it dried it was pretty clear that there was no “daubed” effect whatsoever, just a really streaky but essentially opaque paint job. I gave it a quick second coat and called it “intentional” and “done.”

Next up: a) fill the bookcases, b) hang a mirror (or possibly a photograph) over the headboard, and c) re-install the heater in my son’s room. The latter is the most important, since he’s coming tomorrow.
